How do you know when it is time to Ditch Your Web Hosting Provider?

If you are conducting business online, having your website up and running 24/7 is crucial. You have worked relentlessly to build up your business and its reputation, why risk that reputation and lose customers with an unreliable web-hosting provider.

Website Downtime means Losing Customers

A website provider may have promised 99.99 percent when you signed on, but if they are not delivering on that promise with constant outages, and the excuses that go with them, then it may be time to ditch your existing web hosting provider. A reliable web-hosting provider should have enough redundancy plans in place to minimize outages. There are stories of websites being down for hours, days and even weeks due to server problems at the web-hosting company. Can your company’s website afford to be down for weeks?

Poor Technical Support

We have all experienced a problem with our computer or website and were unable to fix the problem ourselves. When you call for technical assistance, there’s nothing more frustrating than getting an answering machine and leaving a message. They may or may not get back to you in a timely manner. Can you afford to wait for them to return your call? The other frustration is calling a help desk and talking to someone that barely speaks your language. If you have a website and you have experienced these types of problems, then it may be time to ditch your web-hosting provider.

Other Warning Signs

You hired a webmaster to create your website, and then signed on with a web-hosting company that sounds terrific and they told you that your brand new, awesome website will be online, up and running tomorrow. However, days go by and nothing is up and running. You call and get a technical glitch excuse, of course! This is not a good sign. One other sign for ditching your web-hosting company is if you discover they are cloaking your website and others to boost the page rank of one of their own websites at the expense of yours. It does not happen often, but it does happen.
